What books and recordings have inspired you in your search for meaningful work and a better life? Please let us know by leaving a message or sending an email. Please give us the title, author(s), publisher, publication date, and a brief review. If we publish your review, we'll add the suggested book to our list and post what you said, giving you full credit. So be sure to include your name (and your email if you want to be notified).
We encourage you to support the independent bookstores in your area by purchasing your books and tapes locally, whenever you can. They depend on local patronage to stay in business. In turn, if they are any good at what they do, you can count on them for special selections, personal service, and a relaxing browse. It's a partnership worth continuing in every community. This link will take you to a list of independent bookstores near you.
Some wonderful books are out of print, and even Amazon can't always find them. Our friend Douglas Harding and his daughter Cheryl and son Kevin, operate Maine's largest used and rare bookstore. Our own library is full of extraordinary volumes culled from their bountiful shelves, including many books on business, careers, self-development, and learning.
If you are looking for something that's hard to find or out of print, Doug, Cheryl and Kevin are the folks to call. You may contact Douglas N. Harding Rare Books by visiting their website at http://www.hardingsbooks.com/ or by calling Doug, Cheryl or Kevin directly at 207-646-8785. They also respond to written inquiries sent to PO Box 184, Wells, Maine 04090, or you can visit when your in the neighborhood by dropping by the old train station at 2152 Post Road in Wells, just across the road from Big Daddy's Ice Cream parlor.
Like a lot of people, I have great intentions when it comes to my blogs. But I'm struggling to get off the dime. It's a lot of work and I'm a busy guy. So the blogs below are ones that I hope to start writing. Check back periodically if the Blog titles intrigue you. In the meantime, I'm sure you have lot of more productive things to do with your time. If you'd like to be notified once I get the blogs going, simply send me a message.
We hope our blogs will become interesting reading that you check out frequently. Until then, click the menu link above for "books" for some reading recommendations. Among the recommendations are a set of annotated bibliographies we've created to make it easy for you to find great reading about mindfulness, meaningful work and community.
As you might have already guessed, it takes time and costs some money for us to create, maintain and host our annotated book lists. We have an "associate" relationship with Amazon, so if you purchase any of these titles or click on the banner buttons for Amazon.com, we'll get a small commission (3 to 7%) to help defray those costs.
Browse or buy any book or tape, including the ones described here and you'll be supporting these lists.
